Boys in Machakos, Kenya, watch the choosing of their next president.
These boys were sitting outside a polling station in Machakos, a town 70km away from Nairobi. They were watching keenly as the people of the town cast their vote to chose the 4th President of Kenya.
“When we grow up we also want to choose our president”

I didn’t actually take this picture. My boyfriend had asked if he could borrow a camera to document his monitoring and observing of a polling station as part of his work. I gave him my 1962 Minolta Hi-Matic 7s. He is a novice to film cameras, so I briefly explained how to use it and no more. I love this photo.
The 4th President of Kenya has been chosen by the majority of her people. Let’s hope that in another five years the country will be more unified, peaceful, prosperous and equal, so in the future boys with dreams, like these, can fulfill them.
